Suna Bonometti

Solid lace, 2026

Brass

10 x 6 x 15 inches

The lamp is made of brass using the lost-wax technique. It is composed of two parts: the body—shaped like a sphere with a cylinder at its top—and a larger cylindrical lampshade that sits above the base. Because the form is built from waxed string that is then cast, the surface retains a rough and slightly irregular texture, and the patterned composition gives it a lace-like appearance. The brass is polished with no patina, and the lamp is fitted with a red light bulb. When the red light interacts with the brass, it produces a warm orange glow.

Suna’s work is an exploration of form, inspired by the full range of her life experiences. She reinterprets the elements that move her — from the subtle ripple of water to the bold presence of a beautifully shaped nose. Through her practice, Suna transforms familiar shapes into unexpected forms, aiming to spark a smile and evoke a sense of joy. Formally trained in jewelry, Suna has expanded her practice by applying these techniques to lighting and product design. Originally from Milan, Italy, Suna is currently based in Queens, New York City.
