The Téssara Aktís Desk Lamp highlights the deceptive complexity of a cube. When folded and closed, its edges are illuminated. When opened, the light is revealed and reflects upon its interior mirror-polished faces. Through its various forms, it recalls a tesseract and all of the geometries that a cube can produce. Téssara Aktís refers to the origins of the word tesseract. Greek téssara (‘four’) and aktís (‘ray’) refers to the four edges from each vertex to other vertices.
 
Studio S II, led by longtime collaborators Erica Sellers and Jeremy Silberberg, creates provocative furniture and immersive spaces that defy convention and embrace the uncanny. Their work layers dualities of the corporeal and mechanical, eluding categorization while transforming everyday environments into extraordinary experiences.
