“Originally conceived as a color of light study in continuation of the thinking of Albers, this piece uses colored acrylic as a way to play with balance. In this, I attempt to evoke my concerns of trying to balance my deep appreciation and respect for the historic work of artists like Flavin, Eliasson and Irwin with my need to learn how to create and explore for myself. The cross as a symbol is carries with it a large set of implications that shouldn’t need to be explained.”
