MOSTRO VII is a sculptural limited edition table lamp designed by BRH+ for MMOOS. The name (Monster in Italian) comes from the Latin monstrum, meaning a prodigy or supernatural event. The Monster therefore comes to stand as a special hybrid – an entity which is perceived as an interruption in the pattern of conformity, the fracture in the homogeneity crossed by the light of the future. The monster is only the reverse of its homologous and identical replica, a different order compared to the more ordinary one. The lamp is made in rare Rosa Peralba marble, rescued from a disused Dolomite quarry (closed since the 1990s), in the attempt at minimizing extraction practices. Each piece is entirely handcrafted by the Sommo family -artisans of marble since 1919- and individually unique, in a limited edition of 8, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
 
MMOOS. is a brand new reality in the contemporary Italian design world, dedicated to the creation of functional objects in natural stone and marble, conceived as highly poetic, strongly symbolic, purely essential and programmatically unconventional material objects of the highest quality. MMOOS. creates limited series of products which, due to the constantly changing characteristics of the material used, are absolutely one piece creations. MMOOS. is projecting a precious heritage of rare knowledge of stone workmanship into the future, thanks to the tradition created since 1919 in Torino – Italy, by the Sommo family, artisans of marble.
