Colonne, 2025
Aluminium extrusions, glass
5.75 x 5.75 x 7 inches
Colonne is a table lamp that explores the relationship between structure, light, and materiality. Built from a repetition of aluminum extrusions of varying lengths, it forms a rhythmic and architectural volume where light becomes a tangible presence. At its core, a COB light source topped with a glass dome sits like a jewel set within an industrial structure. The contrast between the mechanical precision of aluminum and the softness of glass creates a subtle dialogue between strength and delicacy. With its vertical composition and monolithic appearance, Colonne stands between sculpture and functional object. The light, filtered through the structure, casts a play of shadows and reflections that animates the surrounding space transforming the lamp into a presence both raw and contemplative.
Originally from France and based in Montreal, Clément Heyraud is an industrial designer specializing in lighting design for the past five years. His work focuses on creating everyday objects imbued with character and emotion, where light itself becomes a material. Through a careful exploration of texture, material, and proportion, he seeks to give each piece its own soul and presence. For him, light is more than illumination, it reveals form, shapes space, and establishes a poetic dialogue between the object and its environment.
