Trapo Lamp, 2025
Wood, fabric
4 x 2.5 x 3-8.5 inches
The Trapo Lamp is a portable outdoor light that reimagines the traditional concept of a lamp through softness, flexibility, and movement. Crafted from warm plywood and a delicate translucent fabric, Trapo celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the tactile nature of its materials.Inspired by the humble “trapo” (cloth), the lamp features a collapsible design that can be opened or closed, transforming both its form and the quality of light it emits.
Alexandra Rodríguez, born and raised in Puerto Rico, is an architectural designer with a bachelor’s in Environmental Design and a master’s in Architecture. Esteban Chacón, from Costa Rica, is an artist and surfing coach who divides his time between Costa Rica and New York. United by their love for design, art, architecture, surfing, and music, they draw deep inspiration from nature and their shared cultural roots. Trapo, their first collaborative lamp design, reflects their lifestyle and heritage, marking the beginning of many creative projects together.
