“The project is two fold. On the one hand is the scale model of a NYC street lamp from the 90s, complete with a yellow bulb that evokes the nostalgia one might have for the sodium halide bulbs of the past. One the other hand, is the video of me climbing the new LED city lights and adding yellow gels in an attempt to remind us of that same past moment. I always thought city people were like moths, and they would fall in love under these lamps; circling one another. The coupling of the scaled down lamp and the video are meant to mirror that same thought process.”
