Head HiFi, 146 Flushing Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205, USA

About the event

Join Record Magazine's Karl Henkell and Head Hi for a very special celebration and film screening of pioneer of NYC dance music scene Nicky Siano's "Love Is The Message: A Night At The Gallery” (2014, 68 min) to coincide with the release of Record Culture Magazine Issue 11 which includes a supplement booklet by Siano featuring flyers from his legendary New York nightclub The Gallery.

We'll screen the documentary made mostly from footage of the last party in 1977 and charts the history of The Gallery nightclub through accounts from the likes of David Mancuso and Frankie Knuckles. The Gallery followed The Loft, and was a precursor to clubs like Paradise Garage and Studio 54.

What we now understand as disco, in the early '70s was simply known as dance music.

This film is an intimate portrayal of the community of dancers that congregated at the party week after week.
