Cosmic Music - Alice Coltrane Book Talk & Screening

In celebration of the new book Cosmic Music, The Life, Art, and Transcendence of Alice Coltrane, the first full-length biography of Alice Coltrane, join Head Hi and author Andy Beta for a special book talk and screening of a previously unseen episode of her legendary cable access show Eternity's Pillar, an avant garde, music-meditation, video-art series made by Coltrane, a renowned musician and spiritual leader, in the 1980s.

Cosmic Music is the first full-length biography of Alice Coltrane, the jazz musician and spiritual leader whose forward-thinking music was overshadowed by her more famous husband, even as she brilliantly laid the groundwork for the new age, ambient, and electronic music that would follow. Eternity’s Pillar was a devotional television program series made by Coltrane and intended to showcase her ashram’s music, sermonizing, organ work, and creative visual imagery.
