From the maker:
"I found a "traveling kiln" on craigslist early on during the pandemic and this lamp came about by accident while experimenting with hand building clay forms. I'm a fan of Cales Oldenburg's work, specifically these loose drawings he made for a potential shuttlecock sculpture. I thought the form of a shuttlecock could make a fun lamp or pendant, however the jig I had made to support it wasn't detailed enough. Not wanting to waste the clay I decided on reforming it into a banana lamp because I thought this speckled yellow glaze I had would work for it, plus it still had the same playful pop sensibility my first idea had."
